HiSoftware joins the International Security, Trust and Privacy Alliance to expand Privacy Initiatives

Concord, NH —December 2, 2003-HiSoftware, Inc., the leader in enterprise content quality management solutions, announced today that it has joined the International Security, Trust and Privacy Alliance (ISTPA) as part of its educational and outreach efforts focused on awareness of issues relating to privacy, accessibility and Web content quality. HiSoftware recently announced an expansion of the “out of the box” online privacy test suites available in AccVerify and AccMonitor server. The expanded test suites assist customers with identifying and managing online privacy and risk issues to ensure legislative and industry compliance. HiSoftware has also expanded its Professional Services offerings to assist customers in their efforts to comply with Section 208 of the E-Government Act as well as global governmental and regulatory privacy legislation. Section 208 Privacy Standards of the E-Government Act lay out rules and guidelines agencies must follow to protect the privacy of citizens using government Web sites. Additionally, global governments and industry regulators have enacted expanding legislation and regulations that impact Web sites, including the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA), the Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Most of the laws incorporate requirements governing the collection, use, retention, and distribution of personal information. HiSoftware’s validation and monitoring solutions enable developers and testers to configure and analyze Web site content for privacy, quality and accessibility issues. These solutions have assisted customers manage their privacy testing for the past several years. However, in response to a growing interest in measuring compliance against regulatory measures, the latest product advances provide an expanded set of tests that can be used to automate the online privacy test management/compliance process.

HiSoftware’s end-to-end software solutions and professional services enable customers to proactively monitor Web sites for data collection, security and sharing practices, opt-in and opt-out choices, broken links, missing privacy policies, third party linking, P3P and the use of tracking technologies. They actively monitor online businesses and provide reports allowing customers to identify brand and risk issues such as information collection and provide the ability to track and monitor improper use of company Intellectual Property and Trademarks. In addition, HiSoftware Services Professionals work with customers to perform Risk Management/Privacy Assessments, providing actionable reports that provide a high-level of insight into the degree of organizational compliance.

HiSoftware will be actively participating in the ISTPA Privacy Tools and Technology Working group and in ISTPA outreach efforts. PT&T focuses on new privacy protection techniques through the creation of privacy tools and technology research projects to carry out objective and unbiased testing and subsequent evaluation of the results. This work is intended to assist with the understanding of the relationships between security, privacy and trust. Within these projects consideration is taken of the emerging globally diverse regulations and legislation and compliance of the same.
