The University of
Valencia implements HiSoftware Company's

Hi-Caption

today that the University of Valencia,
is using Hi-Caption from HiSoftware to
teach students to caption videos in SMIL
and SAMI, in accordance with the
accessibility policy and standards
PROPOSED for Web Sites under the eEurope
action plan and W3C-WAI guidelines.

test synchronized captioning for
multimedia files. The University of
Valencia joins a growing list of

The University of Valencia Estudi
General in Spain is actively using
Hi-Caption within the Accessible
Multimedia module in the course "Design
for All and Accessible Technology". This
course is being taught as a pilot
experience of the future European
curriculum in “Design for All”, as part
of the European funded work of IDCnet -
Inclusive Design Curriculum Network.
"Hi-Caption provide the students with
the tool they need in order to prepare
the accessible multimedia presentations
in SMIL, including video, and captioning
text that are a core assignment of the
course. The easy timing of the captions
as the video plays and the ‘export to
SMIL and RealText’ possibility made us
choose this tool over the other existing
ones. And, very important also, it is in
Spanish!" said Rafael Romero, lecturer
of the course.
